| My phone is broken, so I had to bug the Verizon people for a new one today. The day is beautiful, so I figured I'd take a walk to Newport Mall. Since I had no phone in my possession, it was just me, myself, and I. And it was weird how nature is smiling today, how people are still buying clothes, how the local cafe is bustling with life. Sitting on my computer, I was so depressed about the whole election situation. It seemed as if here on NoDream, on the internet, in the midst of my heated instant messaging, time stopped and as the front page of the New York Times boldly delared Bush's victory, so were those words imprinted in our minds. Outside, the world still turns. And it was nice to get out. Encouraging. We live in a good state. Our state went Democrat. Hopefully, none of us have an urgent need to visit Texas or Kansas any time soon. We are able to walk down the streets of New York, Philadelphia, New Brunswick, Roselle, Jersey City, Highland Park....and see that there are others who are disappointed today, others who think that a woman has a right to choose and an 18-year old kid has a right not to die for his ignorant government. So, we'll keep on trucking, keep on living, keep on fighting the good fight. Maybe it won't get better...let's just hope that it doesn't get worse. |
